PLEASE DONATE TO SCHOOLS AID
OUR WINTER APPEAL 2009-10
GIVING CHILDREN A CHANCE

The winter in Israel and Palestine can sometimes be surprisingly cold with snow falling
on Hebron, Bethlehem or Jerusalem. Yet, many of our children - Bedouin, Christian,
Druze, Jewish, Muslim or Sufi – are from economically deprived families and go to
schools without heating in inexpensive summer clothes. Some go to schools that cannot
even afford basic materials like pens, books or notepads and others desperately need
funds for support staff, teachers, care workers, audio visual and play learning equipment.....many
of the resources we take for granted. We plan to help up to ten schools in Gaza,
Israel and the West Bank.

We can change this together, with your help.
Dame Judi Dench is championing our Appeal and asks for your generous support:
"The Children of Peace Winter Appeal 2009 - Schools Aid - seeks to help affiliated
schools in Gaza, Israel and the West Bank by providing much needed resources.
That is why I urge you to dig deep and donate to the Schools Aid Winter Appeal. Your
generous support will make a difference to the lives of children shaken by conflict,
health issues and deprivation. By doing so, you can play a part in peace building
between the children of Israel and Palestine."
PLEASE DONATE NOW
We are trying to raise up to £25,000 for up to 10 of our affiliate pre-schools, kindergartens,
junior and senior schools in Gaza, Israel & the West Bank. Please help us to give
the children a chance.

SCHOOL BAGS FOR GAZA
In the last few months, Children of Peace has awarded a number of grassroots affiliates
in Israel & Palestine payments from our Small International Fund.
The beneficiaries included Hand in Hand for Arab Jewish Education in Israel, Hope
Flowers School in the West Bank and the Benevolent Association for All in Gaza.
In a message of thanks to the supporters of Children of Peace, Dr Mohammed Lehia,
Director of BHAA writes:

"It gives me much pleasure to offer my deep gratitude for your non-stop efforts in
helping the children of the world and for what you are working in bringing them
together.
Mr Martin, history will never forget your good and sincere commitment to reducing
the pain and suffering of the children. Moreover, in your ongoing efforts in making
the children around the world exchange culture, activities and information with each
other.
Our children's situation in Gaza is still terrible. We are doing our best to help
them by our efforts and external funds. We are praying to God to help spread love
and peace around the world and to bless your good deeds on their behalf.
We will spend this generous donation in paying salaries for those employees that
are working in our summer camps programs, which we are holding for the benefit of
many children in Gaza.

We respect your help so much and our children will never forget these noble hands.
Children of Peace makes our children appreciate all your noble attitudes towards
them, especially those who live in critical areas in Gaza, those who are missing
the spirit of childhood. Thanks again and again."

The Trustees are delighted to announce that the noted author and journalist, Zoe
Heller and the leading US fashion designer Yotam Soloman have joined Children of
Peace as Friends of the charity.
Zoe Heller was born in North London as the youngest of four children of German-Jewish
immigrant Lukas Heller, who was a successful screenwriter. Zoe studied English at
St Anne's College, Oxford, and then went on to Columbia University, New York where
she received an MA in 1988.
She returned to London to work as a columnist and is credited with being one of the
first female 'confessional' writers. She now lives in New York City, writes for the
Daily Telegraph, and contributes to The New Yorker and other magazines.
She has published three novels, Everything You Know (1999), Notes on a Scandal (2003)
which was one of six books shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 2003 and made into
a film starring Cate Blanchett and Judi Dench in 2006, and The Believers (September
2008).
A son to Israeli-born parents, Yotam Solomon's grandparents migrated from Austria
and Hungary after the Holocaust. He grew up in Israel and attended an Art school
through his teen years. He moved to Los Angeles in 2003 and attended Beverly High
School, graduating from Santa Susana High School where he received the National Orchestra
Award in 2005.
Yotam was admitted to the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM), Los
Angeles in summer 2005. Following his graduation from fashion school, he landed a
pattern-making position which led him to launch his own company in January 2007.
Solomon launched his first collection at the age of 20 in Los Angeles Fashion Week
Spring 2008 (October 2007) and was noted as the youngest designer to ever show in
LA Fashion Week.

Vogue, LA Magazine, WWD, Cliche Magazine, VAMPD Magazine and recently Bello Magazine.
